The Personal Lawncare Service

Our Treatments

We offer treatments which take place 5 times a year approximately 8 weeks apart. Our treatments will improve your lawn growth and quality as well as the removal of all weeds. This is on a pay-as-you-go system and there is no obligation from one treatment to the next. We do interim visits if required at no extra cost.

Spring Treatment

We apply specialized slow release spring fertilizer to get your lawn off to a great start giving it a richer colour. This is followed by a weedkiller to remove all weeds e.g clover, daisies and dandelions etc

Early Summer Treatment

We apply an advanced, high in nitrogen fertilizer which thickens your lawn and improves the deep green colour. We also apply a seasonal systemic weedkiller to remove any new weeds.

Late Summer Treatment

This treatment contains the highest strength nitrogen fertilizer to enhance and nourish your lawn. An application of advanced weedkiller is now used to fight off any late sprouting weeds.

Nutrient Rich Liquid Feed

This rich feed gives your lawn needed nutrients to maintain a lush green colour for longer as we head into autumn and strengthen roots to help reduce die back over the winter. Weed kill if needed

Autumn / Winter Treatment

This final treatment focuses on killing the moss which can grow more during wet, colder conditions causing the grass to struggle. Also giving a final feed to keep  the grass healthy.

FAQs

How many standard treatments do Greenhills complete per year?
We complete 5 standard treatments per year which we categorise as Spring, Early Summer, Late Summer and Autumn/Winter. Each treatment is designed to provide the best care for your lawn for that season.
What additional treatments do you offer?
As each lawn is different we offer fungicides sprays to fight lawn diseases and also products to remove worms, chaffer grubs and leather jackets from your lawn. As not all lawns require these specialist treatments we will only recommend them if required and they are optional. We also complete scarification and aerations over the winter months. This is also optional
When should I cut my lawn?
A lawn can be cut anytime BEFORE we treat it however we recommend you do not cut your lawn for 3-4 days AFTER a treatment as the fertiliser is in small pellet form and could be collected by a mower if cut too soon after. Your invoice will have the date of your next treatment so you may want to make a note of that so you can cut your lawn before we visit, though this isnn’t a necessity.
Whats the best care for my lawn that I can do?
We recommend you cut your lawn once a week for best results and avoid leaving it for more than two weeks. During dry spells we recommend you water your lawn regularly. Do not be tempted to apply additional fertiliser. If you have any concerns please contact us.
What winter services do you offer?
Again, each lawn we do is unique. Your lawn may require an additional moss kill. This is just the same charge as a standard treatment. We also offer scarification and aerations during the winter months. We do it during that time of year to allow your lawn the best chance of recovery in Spring time. If we scarify a lawn too far into Spring or Summer it can struggle to recover.
What is Scarification?
We use a machine to remove built up moss and thatch from the root levels. Removing this built up thatch will help moisture, nutrients and oxygen get to the roots which will lead to stronger roots and thicker grass. Failing to remove thatch will encourage more moss to grow. We will bag up the thatch for your easy disposal.
What is Aeration?
We use a heavy duty machine to create thousands of small cores which allows necessary nutrients, oxygen and water get to the roots. This leads to much improved growth and stronger roots. The process creates many cores. Unlike many lawn treatments companies we collect the cores for your disposal as if the cores are left they can be unsightly and cause a build up of mud. The cores may also refill some holes which would defeat the purpose of the aeration.
My lawn is not due another treatment for a few weeks but I have new weeds, what should I do?
Just give us a call or drop us an email. We are more than happy to return to complete a service call between treatments as many weeds are spread by wind and wildlife. There is no charge for this service.
Can I use other products on my lawn as well as having Greenhills?
We strongly advise against using any products on your lawn whilst it is treated by Greenhills. Application of additional fertiliser products can cause your lawn to burn, lead to patchiness due to uneven distribution and dying off of the grass. If you are concerned about the condition of your lawn at any time just give us a call.
Do I need to water my lawn?
You do not need to water the products in for them to be effective however we do recommend that you water your lawn during dry spells. Like all living plants in your garden your lawn needs water to grow well.
Do I need to be home to have lawn treatments?
You do not need to be home as long as we can gain access to all areas you want to be treated. If you have a side gate you can leave it unlocked, we can padlock as we leave if requested. We can also try to come on specific days of the week or certain times to suit you should access by restricted. It will only ever be Matt, Jen or Ben completing your lawn treatment so you can be confident who is on your property.
Has the lawn care technician had training and experience?
All our lawn technicians have received official City & Guilds NPTC certificates and full training for use with fertilisers, herbicides, pesticides and weed killers. If you are unsure just ask to see their certificate card. You should always check if any people offering lawn care are fully trained. Our lead technician, Matt has over 16 years extensive experience in lawn treatment.
Do you offer weed kill sprays on drive ways and non-lawn areas?
Yes we may be able to help with this. Just give us a call and Matt will come round and see if we can assist.
Are your products safe for pets and children?
We ask that you keep pets and children off the lawn for 1 hour, just to allow the weed killer to soak in. After this time the lawn is fine for pets and children to go onto.
